And don't wash the mtr when it's hot, It can cause condensation in the electrical components, and make it run lousy, or not at all.

ive always been leary of blasting the motor with a pressure cleaner.
try using a engine degreaser on the dirty parts, and simple green or similar cleaner and use a hose to rinse it with.

I use Black Magic..they sell a degrease and shine..it works wonderful..makes it look great under the hood. Let it sit for 10 mins and spray it off with a water hose..no pressure washer needed..I highly recommend this stuff..its kinda expensive 4.99 per can vs. engine brite for 2.99..but I did the whole motor with one can.

Another thing I forgot to add, Castrol maks a product called Cleans, in a purple bottle, it works very well in getting the motor cleaned up good. and a good dressing of your choice.

I use to work at the Saturn dealership as a "detailer" glorified car washer when I was 15. And your right, you can't buy that stuff they use at the dealership. It was a name brand I've never heard of. It was pretty amazing though, spray on wash off, brand new.

I have used a pressure washer on my engine and never had any problems. Never do it until its cooled off. And if your pressure washer is like mine, don't pull the trigger on the gun, just run it without the heavy pressure. I don't usually use chemicals though, its pretty clean as it is.

If you can get your hands on one, a steam cleaner is what I've found is the best. Works like a pressure sprayer, but uses steam. A little Simple Green and/or Engine degresser and the Steam Cleaner...your done in 20-30 mins.
