Lookin' for advice
Ok guys, I'm getting ready to make a trip next month from Jax, Fl to Chicago, IL. I'm changing my oil in a week or so so I am looking for recommendations on what weight since I will be making this trip and transitioning to a colder climate. What other cold weather recommendations does everyone have to offer? Also, any pointers on possible radiator flushing or tranny flushing may come in handy too. I am new to the whole diesel world, but I have no problem listening and learning from others!
Thanks in advance. |

AMSOIL HDD Series 3000 5w30, hands down. It made my truck idle quieter, have higher oil pressure and I picked up 1mpg. AMSOIL also has antifreeze which made the truck run a tick cooler, but from what I read that isn't necessarily a good thing these engines need to be hot to get good mpgs. They also have tranny fluid as well. If you are interested in going with AMSOIL, PM me I am a dealer.
I have also read that installing a larger wire to the starter helps in cold weather starting, but I live in MD and I have had no trouble, even without using the block heater it starts right up even well below freezing. |
