to bypass or not to bypass
Is it possible to get 4 or 5 hundred thousand out of a 7.3L without a bypass? Whats the benefit of running synthetic oil? I notice on here that people are still changing there sythetic about the same time you would change you conventional?

I am an AMSOIL Dealer and recently changed my truck over to AMSOIL motor oil. I can say right off the bat I noticed a quieter idle, higher oil pressure and I noticed a 1mpg improvement after a tank of fuel. I will be sending a sample off for analysis at about 15K to just see if I am within spec. I will keep going as long as I am and I do not have a bypass but I am using their spin on filter. I would say hands down 4-5 hundred K is no problem with a bypass and would say as long as you had your analyzed and kept it within spec the engines are capable of it. The problem I am running into is that all the supporting hardware is starting to go, ie. water pumps, turbo needs rebuilt front end is crazy loose, stuff like that.
