new truck and have a few questions
i am the proud owner of a 1999 f250 sd with the 7.3l
am looking for input on a few things im thinking of chiping it was looking for opinions on these i am new to diesel trucks (worked on tractors but not much with trucks) cheaper is better im in college exhaust i would like to do 4 in turbo back but until i save up for that im thinking of just cuttin the factory muffler out but looking for some ideas on what to do after i cut it out i dont want to just leave it end under the cab i would also like to keep it so i can put it back on if i want to gauges im thinking of putting in a gauge pillar mostly thinking of engine oil press and maybe temp coolant temp and maybe trans temp i am thinking of egt but dont tow often and thinking i can always add it in later hpop i have seen some info about changing the oil in the top half of the engine i know when you change the engine oil it should flush out the old oil but just looking for opinions about this should i try this or should i just continue doing regular oil changes any info will help thanks brett |

Just do regular oil changes
Get gauges first. Most people go with EGT, Boost, and Trans Temp(if your truck is an auto). Whatever you do, do not get a chip without at least an EGT gauge. Doesn't matter if you tow or not. In terms of chips, Tony Wildman, Dp tuner, PHP, are some of the best. As for cutting out the stock muffler, go for it Hope that helps |

well i cut the exhaust just in front of the muffler so i can always put it back on if i want and pulled everything from the cut back out in one piece and i am thinking of ideas as to how to route the exhaust now should i just go side pipe or what im not for doing stacks as i have a service box and dont think it would look right with out doing duals on each side and i dont have the cash flow for that

definitely get egt guage before you chip it. but if you want an aftermarket exhaust diamondeye makes a good four inch for a good price. as for chips i dont think that you can go wrong with DP Tuner. you can go as cheap or expensive as you want.
