Turbo Chatter?
Sometimes When I've got my foot on it, around 20+ psi boost and up I hear a chattering sound. I hear it more when I have my wastegate disconnected. It sounds like it is coming from my turbo. No loss of power though. Could it be from turbo? or maybe from my dual release valve map fooler? This happens when I have my tuner set to the 80 or 120 setting. (see sig for mods)I would like some input as to what it might be and what I might do to solve it. Thanks Mike |

Without hearing it I would say what you have is turbo surge. It can be corrected with a Wicked Wheel or an ATS ported compressor housing. Give Larry a call at Discount Power Parts he can help you out.

Turbo surge is very common on these trucks. You can get a ported housing that will help.
The WW setup is like that in an early '99. We have a f-450 with it, and it is the loudest turbo I have ever heard from the cab. It sounds like it is setting in your lap. It is awsome! I don't even know if the radio works, never turn it on. It is all stock, but they didn't come with the foil on the IC tubes, so if you have the foil you may be OK. |
