Is it alright to run with overdrive off......

.....at low speeds????

I ask because often I travel on curvy two-lane backroads that cause the tranny to shift in and out of overdrive. My truck shifts into final O/D at around 45 mph, and I was wondering if I could just leave it with overdrive off until around 50 to keep it from shifting into O/D in and out as the speed fluctuates, etc. I wouldn't of course run it with overdrive off on the interstate, etc

Thanks

Aside from worse gas mileage, there shouldn't be any problems with running with the overdrive off. If I have a big enough load on it I will run 60-65 with overdrive off sometimes and on RARE occasions sometimes faster. No problems yet. I know the older 1/2 ton gassers if you were towing much of anything you weren't supposed to put it in overdrive at all.

Comparing an old gasser with the PSD is no comparison at all.

PSD is made to tow in OD, BUT if it keeps shifting in and out then
it is best to lock it out.

Chipping it will keep it locked in.
