Auto tranny life expectancy?

At what HP/TQ level should I start fearing for my 03 7.3's 4R100's life? I am planning on doing a few mild mod's (ATS Housing, 4" turbo back, S&B intake and a TW Chip 80hp or lower) and wanted to know if I would be asking too much of my stock 120k a4R100

put a factory tech valve body in it and get a new convertor and you should be able to drive the truck pretty hard as long as the tuning is there. The convertors are the weak points, and the valve body will help preserve the clutches with nice quick shifts

I could only get 12,000 miles out of a stock transmission. Twice, in fact. Work it over BEFORE you put a chip in it!

I don't think there is any magic number, anything over 300hp you should be looking at the vb and convertor at the least, some go even with stock power, all depends how it's used, heavy towing doesn't help, backing up hills with a load really hurts it.

Yeah, ask GM Duraturd about his luck. His is an E4OD but its pretty much the same as a 4R100, just not quite as strong, but he has changed his transmissions more than his oil. Not kidding either.

This is Jake again.
