Question Best way to clean a fuel tank

We've just about pinpointed the problem with my truck running rough on occasion, and we've cleaned the fuel screen a couple of times now. Both times the screen in the tank was almost completely clogged.

Is it possible to clean the inside of the fuel tank? If so, how would one go about this? Anything that could be poured into the tank that wouldn't harm anything and then let it sit for several hours?

I'm just trying to think of a possible way to clean the tank before we put the bed back on the truck.

Thanks
