Gears rartio Vs Tire size
gettin ready to change gears when i install my new tranny. i want to know what ratio will take me back to stock with 38 in tires and still give me good gas mileage. and if i decide to ever up grade to 40in tires what would be best there. i am debating between 4:10 and 4:56. can anyone give their input.

I would say 4.56s as long as you youre just driving, if you tow alot I would go with 4.88s. But you probally dont tow much with 38s and thinking about getting 40s.

had 4.88's with 38's (gas motor) and it was just about perfect, but this is diesel power hole other animal. they hav alot more torque, and can make up for the diff. just depends what ur doin, lookin cool or launchin hard off the stop light.

don't go smaller than the 4.56. I have that set up with 37's and it is just right. I do tow a lot so if you don't, do the 4.56's, if you do tow do the 4.88's for sure.
