fuel mpg
I have a question on mpg. I have a 00 crew cab 4x4 6 speed 3.73 gears, 285/75/16 tires, turbo down pipe pyro, boost gauges. I get around 17 driving to work doing 60 for abought 30 miles. I'm wondering what I can do to get more mpg and power and not break the bank. I'm working on doing a 6637 cold air intake any idea's
thanks before the larger tires i was getting 18 to 18.5 Last edited by mifarmpowerstroke7.3; 07-20-2009 at 03:36 PM. |

my friend has a 2000 7.3 psd, i think thats wat you have, im terrible on psd years but he has the same set it sounds like but he has 35'' tires and gets at times 21!
his mods- cold air intake, elctric fans, straight pipe, an edge chip, snowperforamnce stage 1 or 2 not sure which he barely uses tho and the key is his right foot. all of his mods helped him he actually started out only getting 15 on highway doing 50-65mph so getting any of these will help. ive ridden with him and he slowly gets up to speed and is so soft wit the foot and shifts so soon the rpm never gets above 2300rpms. i dont know any major mods to help you other than the foot. good luck |

17 is good! As I added mods I did not really gain MPG but I did gain power and kept near the same MPG.
Do the DIY intake. its only 40 or 50 bucks and it is not going to hurt you any. |

The 6637 intake is pretty noisy. I have it and generally like it but it can be loud when towing. |
