$235.00 to rebuild

$235.00 to rebuild my front driveshaft. The price includes all new u-joints, cardan joint, and ballancing. I think it is reasonable price. The driveshaft is not damaged besides the cardan joint is wore out and needs replaced, the u-joints are shot. The shop will not do the work unless I allow them to ballance the driveshaft when they get done rebuilding it.

What happened well sunday I obtained a severe driveline vibration. I stopped my truck and pulled off the side of the road. I crawled under neath the truck. I found the back driveshaft to be fine I just did those u-joints.

So I checked the front, this is what I learned. T-case is stuck in 4hi. Which is why the driveshaft was spinning. So I removed the driveshaft. Kept driving the truck. Today I got the driveshaft up to Ann Arbor Driveshaft and Machine Ballancing.

They just called with the quote to do the rebuild and I told them to go ahead.

I did ask them a question is that Cardan Joint really needed. They said well all the heavy duty trucks have them. But they said they didn't know if they built me a driveshaft with out it. If that new driveshaft would work or not. Price for the built driveshaft was 285.

That seems like a pretty reasonable price.

I think so too, plus being I have used this same shop for my rear driveshaft repairs. Replacing the carrier bearing twice. I feel they are the place to go to for this repair.
