Factory gauge problems when cold
Looking for a little help with a 2000 F-350 4X4 7.3 Powerstroke. When the truck is cold it will start but none of the gauges work also no lights on the dash and at this time it will only idle the pedal is unresponsive also lots of white smoke and I mean lots. If you let it run 10-15 min maybe more on a real cold day. smoke goes away and at the same time the gauges start working then you can drive just like normal.
The truck is mostly stock with over 200,000 miles on it. A few months back the turbo went bad and had a huge oil leak from the pedestal. I installed an upgraded turbo and at the same time removed the exhaust backpressure valve and changed the turbo pedestal, this removed all EBPV parts for a clean install |

I don't know why the gauges would not work, but it is not uncommon for the older trucks to have no throttle response when cold. Some white smoke is not unusual, and the reason it takes so long would be because of the removal of the EPBV. How are your batteries, if they are getting boarder line they can cause all kinds of weird problems. Hope that helps, I'm sure one of the techs will be along to give a little more concise info. Good luck.
And Welcome to Powerstroke, glad to have you here, If you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to post. Gord. |

Here is a little more on the truck. It makes no difference whether I plug the truck in overnight or not same problem lots of white smoke and no working gauges or lights until it runs for 10 to 15 min. I also replaced the accelerator pedal when I did all the turbo and EBPV work.
