Boost questions?

Hello all,
this is my 1st real post on here. but anyway, I am want to do the boost fooler mod on my truck. There are just a few things that I am wondering though. If I do the boost fooler mod how can I increase my boost to A higher level where It will do some good. I am running a ts right now with no problems.

This info is valid to your post..

The boost fooler will allow the IPR to keep doing its job ...There is no defuel on the Super Duty trucks regardless of boost amount. There is an overboost code that reduces the cycle time of the IPR. The result is a slower gain in acceleration, not a reduction of fuel. The way to see if you are setting this would be to scan for the code. This is off the top of my head and it may be wrong, but I think it is a P0236 that is the code.

However, I've seen various configurations of MAP sensor alterations and I would warn that most are ill conceived. The majority of the pressure relief set ups I've seen blow off actual boost and do not isolate excess boost to the MAP side only, leaving the manifold pressure able to rise. The electric modifications don't allow MDFR (Mass Desired Fuel Rate) on the low end early enough since they mitigate the overall boost by a percentage.

So my question is whats your boost? Your TS has generic tunes TW tunes should give you boost 3's into or close to 30lbs.

What other mods...fill in sig please!

It will max out at 20psi wot. For some reason I am not throwing any codes, It just wont go any higher. I do not have a boost fooler of any kind installed and do not have any boost leaks that I know of.

A local offroad shop owner showed me his 2002 7.3 today. It maxes out on 37psi wot. It has a ts chip, custom tune, exhaust, and a diy intake, it is doing this without a boost fooler of any kind that we could find. How is this possible?

Maybe your wastegate actuator is opening up, not allowing you to build any more boost. Its the metal rod on the back of your turbo connected to a canister looking thing. PITA to adjust.
Also maybe your just not getting enough fuel to build boost. What other mods does your rig have?

would the rod need to be adjusted in or out? what would happen if I took off the red line on the wastegate. I hear good things and bad, It has me skeptical about doing it. I just added my mods to my sig.
