My batteries are brand new and my alternator is good as well. My battery voltage will run up to about 18 while driving and it shuts the radio off then when i stop it runs back down to normal till i mash the gas pedalagain. Any help will be greatly appreciated........

Sounds like the regulator on your alternator is going out.

If the regulator is indeed bad, then yes,you need another alternator. That is what sounds like is happening.
