Foil Delet

What do I need to remove to take the tube out so I can delete the foil on my '02 f250? Just double checking before I do it tonight.

there is a write up on here on how it is done... taking the inner cooler tube off isnt the problem, trying to get that insulation and glue off is a pain in the butt

Wire wheel for a grinder works good. Good old fashioned elbow grease and a scraper works too. Once I got the bulk off, I kept soaking the glue with Goo-Gone and scraping till it was all gone.

Undue the clamps @ the intercooler and turbo and your in business. The wrapping itself is a PAIN in the a#$! Use wd-40 or some type of penetrating oil and a pair of pliers to get the bulk of it off. If you have access to a fairly good size compressor and die-grinder it will be a piece of cake. Don`t use to aggressive of a wheel though, One for taking gasket material off of heads or block face where the water pump mates up is perfect. You still have to be cautious or you will really eat into the tube. (WEAR SAFETY GLASSES!) Gives it a nice swirled polish and sounds awesome!

I've read a few of these foil delete threads now. But what advantage is it to remove the foil? What is the sound difference I keep hearing about? Why is the foil and insulation there to start with. Seems like it should serve some sort of purpose but must not be too important.

It just makes it whistle more in the cab pretty much. Maybe a little louder on the outside. Its worth doing It was just to shield some of the heat.
