Dead Key - No Start

It's only happened twice, but...twice, when I insert the key, wait to start, and then turn the key over, nothing!!! I release, wait to start again, turn the key over again and it fires right up.
The totally dead key deal is a weird feeling. anyway, any thoughts on what this could be?
I don't want to be left stranded. so far, it's been intermittent. thanks.

The first place to start with electical problems is clean up batter post and cables. It sounds stupid but it works. I put a new trans in and couldnt get it to start had all kinds of wierd codes, cleaned the posts and it started like new. I am a tractor tech and it happens time after time on them also. I am not saying that is the problem but its a good and cheap place to start.
