egr valve

I have a friend with a duramax and he disconnected his egr valve and swears its made a differance in his throttle response and gas milage. Has anybody else heard of doing this and does it also work with the 7.3 psd? I didin't want to disconnect mine without knowing its affects. Thanks Tim

a 7.3 does not have an EGR valve tim.......thats part of the reason ford had to come out with the 6.0. the EGR valve was a government requirment, along with some other things, for the motors to have by.....05 or 06 i think. all the auto manufacterers want to look good, so they all tried to push the new designs out before the mandate to show compliance. that is why they were out before the mandate. long and the short of it is your truck does not have an EGR valve to disconnect.......Marc
