I need a bumper,,, or at least good pics
So I've seen too many dead critters and made a couple myself, so far not with the truck. I feel it's time for me to find and buy, or build a bumper for my truck. And I like some of what I've seen from companies out there. So far, for coverage reasons my favorites are (a)Tank's, except for the fact that I get the feeling if I hit a moose with it the tubes on the outside of the frame rails might fold up, and then mangle all the parts I'm trying to keep pretty. (b)I also like the Road Armour Titan II similar shape and coverage. I don't like the price tag of the RA, and I've looked at alien patrol, but again too I'm cheap. I like the way the AP and the RA follow the lines of the truck under the grill and headlights. Anybody know of any other options that might have good pictures to look at. And the only reason Ironbull isn't on the list it the lack of coverage around the lights and up to the hood line. I hit an antelope with my subie and that didn't work out too well I don't want a repeat on a vehicle I'm still paying for. Oh yeah and the building it option, I can get my hands on steel for cost, and have a buddy who is a welder with access to a fab shop, who works for beer and me turning wrenches on his truck when it needs it. So that makes that one a little cheaper
Thanks Pete |

here's other options
Here's other companies Monster Bumpers Custom Truck Accessory and Off-Road Center - Grille Guards, Front End Replacements, Stealth Bumpers, Rear Bumper replacements, Headache Racks, Monster Linings, Law Enforcement Auto Equipment, Grill Guards, Brush Guards, Bull Bars. Loc and Bull Bar/Bumper Styles and Features and Ali Arc Industries Those are just a couple to think about. Finding a bumper that will survive a moose, on a regular truck, is gonna be hard. I know those Aliarc bumpers on Big Rigs have survived moose hits. Hope this helps, as I am also trying to decide on a bumper. I want to build my own tube one but there aren't alot of SD's running around with tube bumpers.
Good luck |

I've heard(not sure though, maybe someone else can confirm), that Alien Patrol was started by someone from Road Armor. Both AP and RA both have customer service issues, I think mostly related to delivery times from what I've heard. Both are pretty expensive though. I hadn't heard about the monster bumpers or winch ready. Winch Ready doesn't have many pictures, just of one style so I know I'd certainly want to see more pics before spending that much money! I like the looks of the Buckstop bumpers (BUCKSTOP Truckware - Heavy-Duty Winch Bumpers for Ford, Dodge, Chevy Trucks and SUVs). A lot of people here seem to like the Iron Bull bumpers but the lack of full light/grill protection would be why I wouldn't get them either. Lots of dead deer on the roads around here and there have been many times I'd have to stop to avoid them in my commute. I wouldn't mind see an Iron Bull bumper with full frontal protection on it though. Seems most bumper companies are out west though so its a few hundred to ship to the east coast!
I do like the ARB bumper as well. Someone on here said they had one and the light protection failed when they hit something. My brother had and ARB for Jeep YJ and that seemed very solid and well built. |
