Yet another question. Wired factory keypad

So the guy who owned the truck before me had a factory keypad installed on the truck but he never wired it. How would I go about this? Is there a harness already in the door? And if so what color wires go where?

There is no wires? it just sticks to the door. if you have keyless entry, you can add the pad

One of the BEST features EVER !!! I don't know why every manufacturer doesn't have this feature. Left something in my truck and my keys are in the house... I just use the code. I want to leave it running with the wife and kids inside while I run in the store... hit the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons, and it's locked... when I come back, I just use the code, and back in. It's great.

There's a place for wires. It has a spot for a harness plug. But I don't have wires for it. It's the factory built one. Not the later ford adapter one.

Well to add those wires you have two options. Make a harness from scratch, and whatever module controls them. Or replace the entire interior harness which means remove the whole interior. Dash included.

Or if you have keyless entry, most xlt's do. Just get the add on ones and be done.

Ford has a different interior harness for every set of options. With that harness there is no spare wires, only what the truck was built for

There's a few dozen of those keypads and harnesses on eBay. The door may have been changed at some point with one from an XLT or Lariat with the factory holes and the keypad there just to fill the void, but if your truck didn't come with the module to make it work, there's a lot of wiring to have from a donor truck that did. Your Ford dealer can VIN or Oasis the truck to find out. Or, you can get an adhesive kepyad to replace it and sell the one on the door. I recommend putting a new battery in the adhesive one before installing because it is unknown how long it has been on a shelf and it's a pain to do once on the truck.

Yeah my doors are different. Paint on inside is of a different color. But I rather use hardwired keypad and do the extra work than rely on something that might go out on me. Plus I hear you can't use if truck is running.
