02 with 2012 Tailgate Backup/Reverse Cam

When I recently bought my 02, I had seen where he upgraded the tailgate to that of a 2012. It has te camera and I went ahead and threw my kenwood ddx419 head unit in that I had laying around. I cut the plug off the camera on the tailgate and tried to run the wires myself. I taped into the passenger side reverse light for power and ground and attempted to run te video+/- wires up the frame and into my radio. I spliced into an RCA cable I had. Plugged it up and I got nothing. No picture the screen doesn't even change in reverse but then I noticed a purple wire coming from my head unit that says reverse cam. What needs to be hooked up to get this bad boy functioning? If anyone can lay me out the schematic for the camera and head unit that would be amazing. Looked everywhere last few days but I keep getting stuck at dead ends. And and FYI my camera wires don't have a brown set up. Thanks guys!

You need to tie your deck reverse wire to the cars reverse wire. The the rca end or the radio or plug(forget which one the Kenwood has) will need to be ran to your camera. I'll try to get a wiring diagram of the factory setup from ford.you'll have to cut open the RCA end and wire it up to the camera. Thin wires so be careful!

Thanks guys for this info. I already dd the RCA fab. Although later I'll switch it out with a RCA line level converter. Seems cleaner that way. And a schematic would be awesome. Thank you. Because everywhere else says brown color is incorporated for the camera but there are no wires with brown even on it.

I connected all the wires and nothing. I'm lost and confused about this one guys.

Edit: never mind just drove to walgreens and it worked perfectly. A little interference but not much. This weekend I will shield it with aluminum tape. Thanks for all the help guys.

Some rca's will have the aluminum foil in it as a shield that needs to be connected , or an extra wire. That needs to be hooked up, but glad you got her figured out!

ok, I should be able to post some tonight once I get off duty. This last weekend was really busy for me so I haven't had the change to shield the wires yet.
