4 lined holes in bed floor

Hello everyone, I bought a used 2001 F350 7.3L Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4 back in January, its a little long but I love it. I searched the internet and the forums about some holes in my bed and could not find any results that were similar, most were about rust.

There a 4 evenly spaced lined and painted holes in the bed of my truck. I thought it was for a 5th wheel but every mounting kit I have looked at for the year make model has 6 holes. I thought maybe a goose neck but they usually have a u-bolt or two plus the 4 holes. Did Ford design the truck with these holes? If anybody out there has any ideas please let me know. I didn't see any brackets under the bed but it was -16 degrees out and I was not enjoying touching cold steel.

The reason I am bringing this up is a friend of mine just bought a 5th wheel trailer and asked if I could pull it for him, I said yes thinking these holes were for the bracket/rails.

What size are the holes? Can you post a pic? If they are pretty big, some fifth wheel hitches mount under the bed like what is stock in the new Super Dutys. If so, the previous owner probably removed the mounting kit to put in his new truck.

This is the only hole I can get a picture of, the bed it's a sheet of ice right now. The hole is around an inch or so.
