flashing lights/door ajar light

Having a problem with my 02 Excursion and I was hoping to get some insight. All of the sudden the door ajar light on the door starts flashing and the interior lights flash, the doors lock and unlock and the headlights flash. I also noticed tonight that the door locks seem to be reversed...so when I hit the lock button they unlock and when I hit the unlock button the doors lock.

I tried the cleaning the door latches with brake cleaner and lubing up...no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Matt

Sounds like PATS (passive anti theft system) which is the factory alarm system on Excursions. If it has been raining recently you may have gotten water into the GEM (this was a recall). You can find out everything you would ever want to know about either by searching them.

Thanks for this Would the PATS system still allow the truck to start and run? It is running just fine.

Thanks. Can you tell me what GEM is. Is it something that I can replace or is it a dealer ordeal?

Generic Electronic Module

I'm pretty sure it has to be programmed to your truck by Ford.
