What did I buy?

I replaced a busted drivers side mirror on my 2001 with an aftermarket one bought off of Fleabay.

I knew something was wrong when the mirror I bought had a white round plug and my truck has a gray square plug. But I swapped the plugs and it installed easy enough.

Well, until I looked at the OEM mirror on the passenger side.

This is the mirror I just installed:

This is what I took off:

For what year model was the mirror I bought?

Kevin

I think 99 tow mirrors were fixed as they didn't extend in or out, otherwise the mirrors were the identical through 2007. 2003 of course added heat and the turnsignals but still the same mirror, I think it was 99-01 had the round plug and 01 and newer had the square plug. I've never looked that close at other stock mirrors, mine are aftermarket that look just like the first ones pictured, the second picture looks like they fold forward as well as back, I haven't seen those before, (but that doesn't really mean anything).

E99 they were not extendable and the bottom mirror was not adjustable.

99-2001 they were extendable and the bottom mirror is adjustable. They would fold back but not foward.

2002-2003 they folded foward and back. All else the same from previous generation.

2003-2007 they added the lights.

2008-current are the newer square style.

Thanks for the great info. Weird that my truck has the 2002-2003 mirrors on it. It did seem like someone had swapped that one out once already because the big "dust sticker" under the door panel wasn't stuck well in the place I needed it to not be.

Guess I'll have to swap out one of them so they match.

It doesnt hurt anything, my wifes Excursion has one of the newer ones and one of the older ones... Someone hit and broke the passanger side one, but she didnt want the lighted ones so... I do prefer the fold foward and back ones, keeps them from getting busted.

I put a set of the fold back and forth on my 99 to replace my nemo mirrors. Used an adapter to go from square to round that was supplied with my new mirrors
