Question axle shaft question

Do you have to take the diff cover of when putting the axle shaft back in to make sure you don't pop the seal out by the diff?

my dads truck:
1999
2002 motor
stock straight pipe
lift kit, big bumpers,
foil delete,
EBPV exhaust brake

Dp tuned
(lope idle,
80 econo,
80 tow,
120,
140 agressive)

I dont think so, I havent had to actualy do it though!
