turn signal mirrors on a 99

so i know its possible to put the "6.0" turn signal mirrors on an older truck but how much work is it? I have to run running and turn signal wires to them right? or just plug them in? i dont see why the wiring would be there on a truck that didnt have it as an option but im trying to be optimistic here. Any info on this? thanks

It wouldn't think wiring the turn signal is any issue at all. What the problem is trying to find a lense that looks right when mounted on the 99 mirror. I myself hate the look of the later mirror assemblies. I will keep my antique mirrors, lol!!!!

im talking about swapping the whole mirror assembly not adding a lens to the old mirror... and i have the 05-07 front grille and bumper conversion so im trying to make it look right, i think it would add alot to the truck. Come on guys!!! i know people have done this before!

It is easy to do. Just a little wiring involved. Some folks snip the connectors off of the door harness & mirror harness and splice the wires in, others take the time and trouble to locate the factory pins & connectors to make it look OEM. I'm one of those guys. Mine has all OEM connectors. I went to the wrecking yard and got connectors out of wrecks and made jumper harnesses.

Lots of guys tap into the turn signal wires up under the steering column. I picked up my power at the front signals and ran a wire inside loom from the signal through the boot in the door to the mirror. I picked up power for the marker light in the mirror from the unused brown wire in my trailer brake harness under the dash.
