chrome bumpers and detailing questions

I'm trying to clean up the old truck, it has the stock chrome bumpers and its pitted, bad! Has anyone figured out the best way to clean it up? Or is there a way to polish the chrome? I also have the stock rims and the clear coat is starting to peel. I've read about people removing the clear coat and polishing the bare aluminium has anyone done that who could provided some insight ? Is it impossible to make the stock head lights clear ? ITs a 2000 f250 and needs some attention. Thanks fellas

I don't know about you but I like chrome allot more than all these "blacked out" rigs. What I do on my chrome is use a good abrasive chrome cleaner like mothers out turtle wax. It's gonna take quite a bit of elbow grease but you can get the chrome back to shiny. What ice also done is used regular car soap in a bucket and a really stiff bristled brush to get the big parts done before moving to a chrome polish. The cleaner the chrome is before you use the polish the better it turns out.
