Trailer Wiring Problem????

I have a 2000 powerstroke f 250 that i bought used not too long back. the truck had been converted to a smaller trailer plug which didnt work. I traced the wiring up to the frame and started from there working back to a normal four pin without brakes plug. All of the colors are matched and have good connections but no trailer lights... It looks as if the last owner removed a brake controller... could that be part of the problem???

I'd start first by checking the trailer light fuses under the hood. I'm assuming the SD's have those as I know my '03 F150 did.

I haven't towed with my PSD yet so I'm not sure if mine work or not. Something to check!

I would check the ground of the trailer. If you do not have a good ground for the trailer the lights won't work.

If they butchered the plug, I'd start with the ground........usually the culprit, given that your fuses are good.
