08 tow mirror install question

I have an 03 f250 and its not wired for heated mirrors. My question is if i wire it for heat do i will install a switch but do i also need to install a time relay so it doesn't stay on to long and burn element up?

I put mine on a switch that's wired to something that's only hot with the key. I don't think leaving them on for a couple of hours will hurt anything. I've left mine on for hours at a time and haven't had any problems
