Mine did that and the headlights I ordered turned out to be for the later model header panel. I just trimmed my header panel till they fit without touching anywhere and they have been great.

Did you get it to fit? I put some aftermarket lights on my truck and had to hack the backing until they went in. Looking back on it I wouldn't do it again, modifying the stock ones would have been a better option.

On my 2001 they said they said trimming was not involved but there was for me. Just took a wheel and cut back some of the fiberglass to make them work. Once I got everything trimmed and fitted they worked great!
