Will Stock Tires Fit 9" or 10" Rim ???

This is my question..

I am looking at buying some rims from a friend -- but his wheels are 9" or 10" wide and I can't remember if the stock rims are 7" or 8" wide...

but either way -- they are both 16" wheels and I do not want to have to buy new tires for now..

would my stock sized tires fit the wider rim? or would I need to go up to a 285 or wider tire if I purchased these rims?? Thanks for your help everyone!!

I believe most stock rims are either 6.5" or 7" wide. I suggest going to the tire manufactuers site and look up their specs for your specific size and model tire. In thier specs they normally list what width rims your tires will safely fit. Example for Rugged Trail BF Goodrich: BFGoodrich Tires | Rugged Trail T/A® | Tire Sizes & Specs

Well hrmmm... most I can find (for MT or HT tire, not AT in the Dayton Timberline tires) is that they will fit up to 8" rim...

that sucks

HEHEHE -- Joe's wheels...

I just wondering if anyone ran a 265 on a 9" wheel before safely... the signs are pointing to no

A 265 tire is slightly more than 10" wide so a 9" rim should be fine. It looks a little funny, but you can put a 10" wide tire on a 10" wide rim. It's not suggested by the manufacturers but it will work. Just don't run low air pressure in them and you will be fine.

Is Joe moving up to 20s or something?

Really? hrmmm -- I wonder if I can get tire shops to do it... since all I could find was recommendations for 8" -- the wheels are 9" and I assume when I buy new tires, I could go up to 285 for better looks with the slightly wider tire???

it will work.. but i wouldn't suggest you driving like that for a long time... and def dont carry any loads because you could pop a beed...... opt for some different tires as soon as you can....
