Painted 03 headlights

Hey guys, i saw a million people with 08+ trucks who painted their lights and i decided to do the same. Ill tell you what it was a real pain in the J-hole. but i finally got it apart and masked of the chrome i didnt want to paint and sprayed them flat black to match my theme. i still have to put them together but so far they look good but i can still f them up them up

The trick is to do it at 250 for about 15 mins for the headlights on a cookie sheet with damp towels underneath the lights so they dont touch the hot metal directly. then pull them out and with a flat head screw driver pry them open SLOWLY! Theres no real easy way you just gotta find the weakest spot and just work your way around and when the glue starts hardening again just throw it back in for 5-10 mins and try again until you get it open

The process is a little different for the side markers, turn the heat down to like 225 and make sure you put it with the clear side DOWN otherwise you will melt them like i kinda did I think they have a lower melting temp since they typically dont see as much heat as headlights. but other than that the process is the the same but be careful the plastic on the markers is cheaper than the headlights and they break easy like i did a couple times

Once you have them open mask off the parts you wanna keep chrome and then paint however you feel like. i used just flat black rattle can since it really wont see any element i figured it ought a be ok but we will see.

I dont have them together yet but im gonna try to peel out the leftover glue and reseal it REALLY goo because otherwise you will get moisture in them. Best advice is to err on the safe side of not enough heat so you dont melt them like i did.

Ill post pics up when i get them back together. Any ?s go ahead and ask

Not for nothing, but some black 05 lights would look great on there.
