Blue oval removal.

How the heck do you take the blue out of the ford emblems? It's driving me crazy. My truck is all blacked out except my badges. Please help.

im assuming your talking about the front one in your grille and also im also assuming its for an 99-04? What i did with mine was i heated it up and with a head gun and pealed all the clear **** out of it and just painted it and left it. I like it so much better.

Yeah that's exactly what I wanna do. I tried using a hair dryer and a knife. But it wasn't hot enough and the knife cut the chrome that was under the blue. I definitely failed at this project. But if I get my hands on another emblem I know I could get it right. I used a wire wheel for a cordless drill and it took all the clear chit off. But I stayed in one spot too long a couple times and I tried a bench grinder wire wheel and I took parts of the letters off. Oh man did it mess it up. But I think once I put lots of primer coats and a few black coats it should look kinda okay. It's gonna be all black anyways.

Get a heat gun, heat it up a lot and the whole thing will peel off in one sheet

Dang. I wish I had a heat gun. Anybody got an extra grille emblem laying around?

You can bring the emblem to a paint shop and have them smoke it dark enough that the blue will look black and you can still see the ford over it. Smoke it with some clear coat.
