05 headlights oem vs aftermarket

What do you think of the quality of oem vs aftermarket 05 Harley lights?

I just installed some Eagle Eyes on my 03 and couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I got the eagles eyes also and one of the lamps wasn't sealed and got filled with water from condensation in like two weeks. They wouldnt work with me so I left neg feedback and bought another headlamp and used some windshield silicone and sealed them up. Have not fogged up since and look good. The bulbs suck tho imo. If I could do it again I would save the money for true projector headlights from Cary @ CT Performance.

Yeh...bulbs are a bit weak. I plan on putting on a light bar and running 2 pair of PIAA 580's so not really worried about brightness...just going for the look.

There is no comparison between OEM and Aftermarket Harley headlights. I've had both, OEM is much better. I had Eagle Eyes and they weren't bad by any means, but they're nothing compared to OEM.

Why did you like the OEM Harley lights better? I am doing the conversion right now to the 05 - 07 headlight setup and will be getting the Harley headlights for the F-250. I want the best lights possible for the truck even if I have to spend a couple more $s to get the OEM guys. Did you use the same bulbs when comparing the 2 sets? I was told the OEM Ford headlights are made in China, I don't know if it is true or not. Thanks for the information.

Well - just going from my 7.3 with Eagle Eyes Harley Headlights, to buying my Harley Edition SuperDuty, the light output at night is noticeably different (to me anyway). Not saying the aftermarket headlights are bad, it's just that the OEM ones are better. And to my knowledge - they were the same bulbs.

I've got no clue where the headlights are made, but OEM headlights light the road better at night. There's more output and the light seems to be better focused. There ARE some things that are better in the aftermarket genre in my opinion.... the Harley Grill for example. Get the aftermarket one from partsgeek, it's less than $100 and the quality is much better than OEM.

Thanks for the information ther Super Diesel, just ordered the grille from partsgeek for the HD. Trying to find the OEM lights for a reasonable price led me to the big auction site. Looks like the big auction site does have the best price around for the OEM lights. I just hate to use Paypal for anything, anymore, as they have gone crazy, IMO. Their 30 day pay policy for something I sold on the big auction site, made me stop using PP.

You're welcome! And you'll definitely like the OEM headlights, believe me - they're great! I mean, so are the aftermarket ones... don't get me wrong, but the OEM ones are better. Haha, I'm actually about to order a replacement grill from PartsGeek for my Harley, to replace the OEM one! God, the OEM one is so freaking cheap!!!! The plastic is so thin, it's warped from the engine bay heat and creates a "wave" across the top. It's pretty frustrating. The one I ordered from PartsGeek was a lot better quality, in my opinion.
