My DIY DRL mod.

So, I've been wanting to put some daytime running lights on the EX.
I've seen a bunch of aftermarket stuff out there, and I really can say I haven't found to much out there that I like.
All the ones that have the LED's in the light assembly just look all sorts of 'meh' in my opinion.
I like the look of the factory F250 grill as well (call me a simple man,) and didn't want to change it up to much.
So I started hunting around and found something that I think is going to work out for me.

So first here - starting with the factory honeycomb side grill.

As you can see with this shot - a little bit of flaking that I'll want to clean up.

With the grill off - some rattlecan touchup on the header panel.

Here's my little bit of creativity...
After searching and finding some LED lights, that are weather sealed of ebay - these fit perfectly into the honeycomb spaced segments nicely.
Sad part, is these had to come from China - I could not find any U.S. provider for these. I'll post another pic of the LED unit itself later - didn't think to take one before putting them in.

These are a post style - that has a nut that screws on to the back.

With both sides in - and grille in for mock up.

Obviously I still need to wire it up and run all the leads.
I haven't seen anything like this on any truck yet, and for something so simple - kind of supprised I haven't.
Should look and work good when all is said and done.
I'll post more pic's as I get everything wired.

Thanks Trey.
I'm thinking wiring this up so they will be on when I start up and as well when the parking lights are on - but then off when I turn the headlights on.
Still up in the air - but i can tinker around until I decide what I want finalized.

Here's a pic of the unit by itself.

I hooked one up to 12v battery, and wow - these are brighter than I expected.
Can't way to get it all finished up.
Also - for anyone that's interested - for a 4pack of these - it was $12.50 (with shipping), I ordered 5 sets - so I have few extra for other projects.
So once all the the wiring, bypass switch and relay are all included - should be less than $75 for this little mod.
Might see if I can find some amber ones, and maybe to a turn signal mod next!

Now are you talking about backlighting the side honeycombs area?
Hrm, that'd be different.
