Exterior speakers?

I enjoy tailgating and every time I really crank up my system it over heats. I want to put exterior speakers somewhere and just hook them up to my current amp. any suggestions or pictures would be great! thanks!

I had two speakers from an old stereo system laying around and I simply spliced into my two back speaker wires and made a little connector so I could just plug in the two speakers and lay them on the roof or put them on the side rails and I was amazed how loud they were. I don't remember exactly what kind of speakers they were or what wattage but they sounded really good. That was on a stock head unit and no amp too. I'm sure you could wire up some stereo speakers to a amp and sub and have one kick azz system for tailgating without burning anything up. I always took a spare fully chagrged 850CCA battery when I went tailgating to avoid killing the batteries. Just swapped them out before I started the truck and never had any problems. Good luck.

thats a good idea I was thinking about getting a tool box and mounting some underneath it but i might just go with the easier way like you said.

I have a buddy who loves to be obnoxiously loud. So he threw two speakers up front behind his grille, and then if I remember correctly he mounted 2 more somewhere in his wheel wells in the back? My guess would be marine grade speakers? I could be wrong for the rear speakers but I'm positive about the 2 behind the grille. I'm pretty sure he has some in the rear wheel wells though.

Why don't you just use an Ipod or external speaker system? It'll be cheaper than hooking up speakers to your truck and not risk draining your batteries.

Either jcwhitney or lmctrucks had a tailgaters package. It was a speaker with a built in cooler that hooked up to your truck. I believe when mounted and tailgates up it looks like a tool box.
