HID bi xenon kit install troubles

I tried to install a bi xenon kit on my 99 F-250 and cant get the retaining ring to go over the HID bulb. I tried forcing it only to break the "flaps" on the retaining ring.
What am I doing wrong?

First, the whole "bi-xenon" setup gives you terrible, scattered light and you'll be blinding oncoming drivers while not throwing any farther down the road. Just a scattered bright mess in front of you

To find that out for yourself, you'll have to take a dremel to the ring and remove some material to get the new, oversized, piece in (the vendors of this product often don't tell you that though )

Took more than a dremel. I had to cut a C in the retainer. Used a zip tie around it to add support. I'll see I guess how it works after a few weeks of driving.
