Project: Selectable Exhaust

Since I made my truck 4" straight-piped, I have loved it. The gains are obviously having a free-flowing pipe, but there are downsides. Loud trucks attract unwanted attention (noise fines), they wake sleeping neighbors, and they can sometimes get annoying at highway speeds.

While the 7.3 is loud to begin with, I want to install an extra 4" pipe that has a good muffler on it, and mate that to an Electronic cut-out. At the flip of a switch I can have loud (straight) or quiet...er

I will start collecting parts, and so far I think I'll be using Quicktime Performance for the cut-out part.

Should be a fun project, I also wanted to see if anyone else has done this on their rig

I have seen this for hot rods but never for diesels. Are you going to run new pipe all the way out or y it back in after the muffler?

there was a truck in a magazine that had a selectable stack that would extend when used

that was pretty creative

I've had one of these for years...

Its broken now, but I noticed no differance in EGT's or anything else when using it.

Sounds cool but thats about it.
