'08 Tailgate
Will the '08 Tailgate fit on the back of an '01. I really like that step up and bar. Could go out and measure myself...but young guys with a tape measure would probably be frowned upon at the dealership.

yea it will fit but you have to get a different hinge bracket for the drivers side of the tailgate where it rotates. Heck I'm only 21 and I grabbed one and slapped it on the truck!

yup they work but i hope you find one in a junkyard because if you want it with the step the stealership is gonna charge you over 1k for it

check out this write-up I did for my 2008 Non-step tailgate conversion.
it will tell you everything you need to know. the step version cost way too much. the step part alone cost over 400.00 and the handle cost over 100.00 and the tailgate assembly is completely diff. from the non-step version. 2008 Non-step tailgate conversion |

I don't think it's all that "Manly" to use a step to get into the bed of your truck. I guess I'm alone on that one. To each his own. I do like the big "SUPERDUTY" on the back, though

You can get the tailgate With or Without the step... so there ya go
and just so happens that your preference of without the step is cheaper
