I'm thinking of gettin some new headlights and would like to see what everyone is runnin. Post up pics if ya have em. Projector or hid? Any problems with em? Where'd ya make your purchase? Thanks guys
i just ordered a set of 05-07 harleys from HEADLIGHTS DEPOT & HIDs from DDM TUNING. i went with 35w 5k for both head lights & fogs. i dont think you would be disappointed with new lights.
good luck with your upgade
I have just a set of diamond cut clears from eagle eye, I just threw em on because they were cheap like $35 for the set shipped on eBay because m stockers wernt cutting it and I knew I woud be doing a 05 conversion later on, those with a set of clear markers and you got a decent looking front end on the cheap.... Plus they work a lot better with my HIDs do plan on upgrading to a one piece headlight whenever I get a chance to do the rest of the conversion
ya i hear yah on the 05 lights. ive always liked them the best though.
man...i seen a thread on here somewhere that had several different style lights & they posted pics of the lights on in the dark, wish i could remember where it was.
I'm doing the same research you are right now. What I've found is people are happy with the '05-'07 headlights. Headlightdepot.com is highly recommended and you can get a set for under $120.
I am preparing to retrofit FX-R projectors into some aftermarket lights. THESE are the lights I bought. These are the projectors I am installing.
Taking the lights apart was a pain, as the glue didn't melt even after 20+ minutes in the oven. It took a heat gun and melting part of the rear housing! It should go back together okay, but it was an ugly process. It would have been easier to cut them with a dremel.

Nice, how do the HID's light output look now? Easy install? I was wanting to go HID with my harley headlights but I know how bad the light scatters with halogen type housings(been there done that) so I opted to stay with halogens for now. That projector would be the right way to do it.
I hope to finish mine this week. I'll post a detailed thread at that point, and some pictures of the light as well.
One point to consider if you are going to do this: which projectors will you use? After reading a lot of threads over on HIDPlanet.com, it made sense to go with the larger projectors. There are a number of threads with people using the little ones that are easier to mount, and then over time they realize that they want more light. This requires almost as much work the second time around. If you have GOOD projector lights on a vehicle, you will be astonished at how much light they produce.
These are big trucks, and the lights are plenty big to install the larger projectors. If you are pondering a retrofit install, look at pictures that compare the beam. It is not just about brightness in front of you, but width matters as well (and obviously throw).
you will need the adapter harnesses. but i dont know where you can get them. my lights came with the harness. i do know that if your running HIDs you only need one adapter harness.
Ya the 05+ Harleys seem to be the popular thing to do. That's just it, EVERYONE has em. Noone with pre-assembled projector units has weighed in yet. I may end up slappin an HID kit on my originals but still indecided. Thanks
I'm running the smaller ones. There are threads on PSN of guys that installed the larger ones behind the existing reflector.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
