I found this cool article on autoblog. My bro used it to touch-up his 90 ford probe. Cool technique, loooowwwwww cost. Paint turns out looking good as long as you put the time in. I'll worn you now, it is time-consuming and labor intensive.
Need a paint job? $50 will do it - Autoblog |

I like camo paint jobs. I like flames, as well. But when I need a new paint job I will probablly go back to stock and have custom pinstriping done.

LINE-X the whole thing. This is what mine will get when the paint gets too many scratches in it. Won't be long before I need to do this either. I saw a truck a few weeks back that had this done in black and it looked really cool. Wash and go. I have plenty of shiney harley's to wax but my truck takes forever to wash and wax.

2 tone it dark color on the bottom with a lighter contrasting color on the top. Use the body line to to make the separation. On my 99 thats what Im gonna do with red on the bottom and white on the top. Classic style never goes out. Of course I like the idea about line-x the whole thing.

How about a nice burnt orange color on top with silver on bottom, or vice versa. This is my favorite.

NOt sure, I know I have the "champaigne metalic" color and it is TERRIBLE! Because of the light color the metallic really shows through. The problem I have is it's been in the body shop about 4 times and even though they use the FACTORY PAINT CODES, none of the panels are a spot on match because the metallics will always lay down differently. I have a Camaro in my photo area with a crazy paint job, midnite black with metallic graphics, it's all paint.
I personally like a nice gold base candy tangerene. Gold base= dark rich color, Silver base= sharp, bright color. I think the two tone idea should be left for '67-'72 chevy shortbeds! |
