Has anybody painted a billet grille

I want to get a cheap billet grille of ebay and paint it black.What kind of prep and paint will be my best bet?

I dont know about the billet grille, but i painted the factory grille black with walmart special..lol.. I took a brillo pad and scuffed it up pretty good and then primed and put about 5 coats of gloss black on it.. Been on for about 6 months i guess and still holding.. only a few rock chips...

Just take it to a paint shop and they will take care of it for you... If you don't it will be chipping off and flaking off in pieces down the road...

have it powdercoated...well maybe not soo easy for you lol i have a powdercoater within 10 miles of me. huge color spectrum out there these days with powdercoating

Have you thought about an 05 chrome package front end, just like the harley. then paint it black?? You just got to do some triming on the bottom of the grille, they are cheap on ebay...

Well,I have allready bought everything except for a billet grill.I'm done spending money!!I just didn't think a chrome billet grill insert was going to look right on this set up....What do you guys think? I think black billet would look good.

yes,absolutley.They are the very next check on my list.I hate my wheels.The good thing is they have less than 1000 miles on them,not a scratch,so they will sell easy.I'm just doing the 05 swap first because of the amount of parts/labor time.I mean the swap isn't hard or that expensive,there is just more involved into it than swapping wheels.I have buddies with tire machines so I can take my time and it still only will take a hour! And, I have way too many wheels I'm debating on at the moment....lol I only drive my truck 4 days out of the month and even then I don't drive it much because I drive the rollback 16hrs a day,every day,for 2 weeks for work.(I only get every other weekend off.......basterds)So It won't bother me with the black front end and chrome wheels for a couple months until I get some nice black wheels,black 08 rear bumper,and a black toolbox.I am actually considering painting the whole upper part of the truck black aswell(hood, door pillars,roof,etc)maybe the rocker panels and paintable bushwakers too....I have lots of plans and only so much $$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!! I think I have a crappy ruffdraft of my paint plan somewhere.If I can find it I'll post it.

im sure with your job you know body shop people to paint it for you
