Unhappy Stolen Tailgate!

The other day I went out side to get something for my truck and happen to find my Tailgate was gone. It took a few seconds to realize what had happened. And after checking with my friends to make sure they weren’t just screwing with me that it was stolen. If you do not know this like me... that those tailgates can be taken out in less then 2 min with 2 guys.

My question is what tailgate year's will fit my 1999 F250, it looks like most all 99's and up would fit, but was also wondering about F150's. I have to go down to a pick and pull and try to find one that will fit.... hopefully can put a lock on it. Thanks

You are not alone I have a 97 and the tailgate was stolen. I was looking for a junk yard tailgate but I am not able to find one.

Sorry to hear about that.

Apparently the tailgate is a big item for thieves because it's so easy. That's why more of them have locks on them now.

Remember to ask for a key to it, if you buy one with a lock.

Or you might try your local WalMart Superstore. I bet you might find one there that'll fit. (just kiddin)

Thanks guy's, i am going to check my local pick and pull this week. Ya i try to think what goes around comes around, but i would really like it if i could just once catch them in the act.

If i find a 97+ F150 with a good paint match, will it leave a mark taking the badges off?

If you go to the scrapyard to get one make sure its the same color or get it painted right away

I am goin through a huge Fin mess right now because of one i bought at a scrapyard 180 miles from my house. I bought came home with it didnt get it painted right away next thing i know 1 week later i am driving through the next town over get pulled over and accused of theft because someone in that town had theirs stolen..

I had a reciept and everything but the cop tore it up told me it was fake and proceeded to haul me in.

Im still going through this battle in court it's BS and the cop confiscated the tailgate that i paid 300 bucks for fair and square and gave it too who i later found out was one of the police chiefs buddies
