Question Tow Mirror Blues

Hello Ford fans!
Have a question ... has any one had the extendeable tow mirrors "stick" in the extended position. I recently bought a 99 F250 and while I tried sliding the drivers's mirror in and out, I totally forgot to do this to the passenger side... low and behold, that mirror is seriously stuck in the out condition...

I hve tried silicon spray, graphite... nothing will budge it... how is the mirror plastic held on (don't want to break clips)... thought I might try takeing the backing off to see why this thing won't budge...

Thanks for any help... See my truck in the garage!

Scott

post up a pic, they actually sit out just a hair( about an inch and a half ) of metal post will be showing when it's in the closed position. so put up a pic and we'll be able to help you more. what you can do is use a towel( I had to do this on my truck when I bought it to free them ). put a towel folded over on the mirror and gently tap it with a rubber mallet, it will break free. but post up that pic first and we'll tell you if it's closed or extended. don't forget to use a ton of spray before you go malleting it to death.

Thanks Chad... I can post some pics later today after I'm home from work, but I know its in the exteded position cause I have compared it to the driver's side that slide in and out fine... little nervous agout tapin it with a hammer, I've bangged it pretty good so far with the heel of my hand and it just don't budge ~ doesn't feel like it will move at all...

yeah I was worried about the same thing when I bought my truck. my buddy actually showed me that trick on how to do that. just be real careful and be sure to hit the very edge( BE SURE TO USE THE TOWEL ) as it will help soften the blows from the mallet. and I just looked at your gallery and yes it's stuck in the OPEN position, try that trick. IT WILL WORK.

99-01 mirrors

Does the mirror only fold towards the back??
If it does then you have stock 99-01 mirrors that don't move in and out.
same here

Mine only fold towards the rear, and both slide in - out.

that is completely NOT TRUE. all the towing mirrors were extendable and ford never made them stationary in the EXTENDED position. use my method and you'll get it worked out bud. good luck and let me know how it works out for you. and I say you're wrong on this because my STOCK 2000 mirrors folded, extended and all/
