taillight black out

hey guys im new to the truck mod world and was wonderin if i could get some advice on blacking out the tail lights on an 2000 250

There is black out paint that comes in a can, you could spray them with that and spray some clear coat over it. OR you could have a professional painter mix the paint and do it. You can buy black caps and pop them on. You can also buy a whole light assembly that comes blacked out like recon lighting

buy the avs taillight covers from andysautosport.com
thats what i have and they work great and are flawless unlike painting them.

also if you do look at the pic in my gallery, they dont look that dark, thats because there was a flash on the camera when i took it. they usually just look straight BLACK except at night when they are on

Be careful blacking out your taillights. Unless they are DOT approved (Read Recon) and you get rearended the person that hits you can get out of it by proving that you deliberately altered the warning lights to a state that was less visible than the legal DOT amount. Will this happen every time? No, but are you willing to take the chance?

VHT Niteshades 3 coats. Sand lightly with 1500+ grit then 3-4 coats of clear coat. Simple and cheap still looks good
