So 3/4 an inch wider no height difference however there are some brands that vary! 2 1/2 inches no I have seen 34.5 inches in some brands
Yeah,we put them side by side off the truck and they were definately taller and a little wider
The do ride very good.Seems the compound of the Goodyears were alot harder.

I've been running 305/70R16E's on stock Lariat rims for the last...100,000 miles - 3 sets of tires. First 2 sets were Nitto's - I got stupid thinking I would try something different & went with Kumho AT's. Should have stayed with Nitto's. Going to try the Goodyear Duratrac's next but with 285's. Going for higher weight capacity of the 285's.

Here is a link to a calculator for you guys to check out when it comes to tires sizes. As already suggested there should be very little difference between a 285/75 and a 305/70. Different tire companys have different tread depths that could alter the tire height. Also a 33" tire that came new with 17/32nds tread depth will be a lot shorter if it is worn out. Lets say it is worn to 3/32nds, so it has lost 14/32nds height on the top and bottom. That is a loss of about one full inch in tire height. 2 1/2 inches still seems like a lot. Jbeasts were both tires inflated when placed side by side?

Are you sure the 2 1/2" difference wasnt a 305/70R17? The 17" 305 is on average a 34.5" tall tire depending on manufacturer. I once looked at 305/70R17 Nitto's - they were a good 1.5" taller then the 305/70R16 counterparts.

Blue72, the wearout would be 7/32's top and bottom totaling 14/32's. 7/32's is just shy of a 1/4" Top and bottom only a 1/2" of wear total.

I put 305 70 16 on m my truck from the 285 75 16. the 305s are slightly taller. i would say about 1 inch or so. its not really noticeable. the only place you notice it is on the front tire fender well clearnace. its a little less with the 305s Still clears with no trimming whatsoever. the tires are mud tires.
its really more noticeable on the front than the back. the back sits so high you cant really see the difference. you can see it on the front more but its not that much of a change. I noticed no fuel mileage loss after these tires. If any loss its less than 1/2 mile per gallon. I jsut went from Reno to orange county using about 1/2 a tank of gas. When i got home the gas guage was between 1/4 and half abotu 3/4 of the way up towards the 1/2 tank mark.I have a leveling kit but I havent had the time to put it on.

Before with stock tires

After with mud tires
