Back up / trailer hook up Camera, Like the 08 in the tail gate handle

I'm sure someone has done it, but my search didn't turn up anything. I would like to have the handy back up camera with the actual camera in the tale gate handle like the 08+. I just think it would be nice for hooking up trailers by my self, yeah I can get close and then jump out and check but it would be nice to be right on. yeah its a little fancy but lets face it, now days were getting spoiled with these gadgets. It would also be nice for when (not often!!) my girlfriend needs to drive it because shes not the best at backing up!

I know you can buy a nice head unit and an after market camera but I like the neat fit and finish of the camera in the tailgate handle. I'm sure it could be done, but can it be hooked up to the after market HU with out issues?

Has anyone done it?

Thanks!

Dealer for the replacement bezel. $40 for the camera sounds like a really good deal. As for the head unit you need one with that function built in, such as a Pioneer AVIC. The only way to know is check out the connections for both the camera and radio; if you're skilled you can make an adapter for it.

I did a similar thing to my ex except I used a camera that is built into my license plate frame. It does help a LOT for hooking up trailers no more getting in and out, in and out. It also is good cause while driving down the road you can check to make sure everything is hooked up correctly at any time.

im very interested in doing this as well. i have a panasonic 7inch and it has the input for the backup camera. so if i get an 08 tailgate, the handle with the camera hole, and an aftermarket camera i should be able to wire it up?

i just want to make sure im correct on this stuff before i start gathering parts

Do you have a pic of that camera?
