transmission control unit location ?

I am new to Fords and also this is my first deisel. 2003 f250 7.3 4x4. I bought the rig knowing I may need a tranny. When I started looking into things I found a wire connector disconnected and could find nowhere to plug it in. I compared this to a buddys 7.3 and the plug went to a banks transmission control module. Did the transmission come from the factory with a part that is now missing on my truck or is this empty plug an aftermarket addition. Im guessing that whoever had the pickup before me pulled off this peice before trading it in.

The Banks TransCommand uses wires #1, 11, & 12 from the main trans harness that pins into a Banks' harness that plugs into the TransCommand. The main trans harness is on the passenger side of the trans. You can't see it, because you need to remove your exhaust heat shield & you'll have access to it. Hope this helps.
