Bonr yard trans?

I would like a break down of what fails in the trans. Reason i am asking is I have a stock trans inthe truck now. I would like a back up. Actualy I WANT TO BUILD NOT BUY a tranny for my truck. This is what i am thinking I hear of these trans craping out so they have to be in bone yards. I would like to pick one up cheap and get a master rebuild kit with upgraded parts such as Red Alto and such. Do most Master rebuild kits have everything that goes bad? Or is there some heavy parts in the trans that can be broke and end up costing me what a Suncoast would?

I use ATSG manuals and I usually get my best prices off ebay. Master kits don't come with hard parts like drums and stuff, they are usually seals, gaskets, clutches and usually new steels. I sometimes order from Transmission Parts - Parts for your Transmission Online - Makco Distributing, sometimes I just get things locally but I have never built a auto for one of these trucks....yet.
