02 F-250 4wd Auto - dies when put into Drive

So, I just bought this thing less than two weeks ago. I have no idea what the history is. That being said, the tranny fluid looked OK when I test drove the truck. It has 167k miles on it.

One week after purchase, the truck wouldn't start intermittently. Thought it was the fuel inertia switch, but that checked out OK. Took it to a mechanic friend, he says it looks like the shifting solenoid or torque converter killing the truck when he shifts into Drive. I have not witnessed this happening. He says transmission flush is the first thing to do. So I'm going to get it done. But would this cause the truck to not start, or to quit while driving but slowing for a stop??

The truck cranks fine when it won't start.

My buddy got one recent code having to do with the back pressure sensor. He cleaned the sensor and surrounding area, no longer throwing this code.

This afternoon, the truck died while the mechanic was in it, he was able to pin it down to the ICP. It runs fine now, and am still going to have the tranny flush and filter change done. We'll see.

Back to square 1

Installed a new ICP, had transmission flushed and filter changed, fresh oil change, and still have the problem. It dies and won't start until it sits for a while.

I did notice that while cranking, the oil pressure gauge does not come up. Could this be an issue?
