What slips?

What exactly is "slipping" in an automatic tranny when it "slips"? What inside the tranny can slip? Is it just the torqe converter that slips? How do the gears inside the tranny slip? Just wondering

When the tranny starts slipping is a rebuild emminent? Installed a Ford re-man tranny last Feb. because it flat went out in my driveway, nothing but reverse, which was a good thing to get in my garage to swap in another. New tranny never felt great and after installing my DP-Tuner 2 week ago the tranny has started having a massive slip. Flush, TC a new VB isn't going to help me is it?
